UNAA & UCOC Youth Day Sears Park NoHO California - APPRECIATION
UNAA & UCOC YOUTH DAY - A DAY OF JOINING HANDS TOGETHER TO BUILD A STRONGER UNAA & UCOC, A SHOWCASE FOR OUR YOUTH TO EMULATE!! Special thanks to the UNAA Board Member for the Pacific Rim, Mr. Julius Kabukuru and UNAA Youth Board member. Moses Male plus members of UCOC Executive team for joining hands together to hold this fun-filled event. The event was successful not only in drawing several members of the community but more of the youth like we had never witnessed before, which made our deliberations more meaningful. There was a Q & A sesssion after the main speeches of the UNAA BOARD members & UCOC Treasurer, Hon. Moses Bahingire & UCOC Secretary Hon. Sirajje Mugambe. Official address from the 1st Guest of Honor, & Board Member for the Pacific coast, Mr. Julius Kabukuru covered, amongst others, the following issues: * Reminder to everyone to register for the very exciting upcoming convention in Orlando this year - with great entertainment from hot Ugandan Artists and of course the band that was crowned in California as " THE GREATEST UGANDAN BAND OF THE CENTURY, THE inimitable AFRIGO BAND!!!!!! Local Sponsors were also encouraged to step up and support their national organization, UNAA, and advertize in the programme books. 2nd Guest of Honor UNAA Youth Board member, Moses Male, thanked the unusual number of youth that attended and stressed the need for hard work, loyalty, unity and building long lasting friendships that would see them through high school/College to University. He stressed the need for a good and sound education and stated that his offices were wide open for any information the Youth not only in in CA but the entire US Diaspora, might need in areas such as careers and scholarship information etc.... Both UNAA Board members appealed to the the gathering to send in their input and give them views on how UNAA can be made even better. This would help to strengthen _link_s between UNAA and grassroot organizations such as UCOC including ordinary wanainchi. The issue of unity in action with deeds and not in words was raised by the UNAA board representatives which was also echoed by the UCOC Executive Treasurer, Hon. Bahingire and Secretary Hon. Mugambe. The evening was rounded off by a competion in Ugandan traditional dances - UNAA versus UCOC... and of course the people who could shake their hips and stomp their feet were....UCOC locals!!!! Better luck UNAA reps, if you practice harder maybe you may beat us in Orlando with Nandujja in the house!!! The event continued with "platta -kwa-platta" of BBQ. "Huge BBQ Thanks" to Arthur for introducing his special "vibaya" BBQ recipe - one of the best we have ever tasted with a tinge of you know what!!!!! Special Thanks to UCOC Hon. Vice President, William Senkumba, for all logistics and transporatiton of p_layer_s, "kinywagi" etc...
