Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and the business community in Uganda is organizing a Diaspora Investment Summit, under the theme "BACK TO MY ROOTS- UGANDA MY HOME 2"
The summit begins in Gulu on 27th December 2008 with a seminar on ‘Investment and Trade Opportunities in Northern Uganda'. The main summit takes place thereafter on 29th and 30th December 2008 at Hotel Africana.
The summit is one of the major efforts to bring the Ugandan Diaspora into active participation in private investment at home. It will bring together a cross-section of 200 - 400 Ugandans in the Diaspora, Private Sector members and Families at home.
The Summit will focus on Uganda's investment prospects /challenges and the role the Uganda Diaspora should play in investing home and in mobilizing the international business community to invest in the country.
Special discussion panels and live broadcasting will discuss trade & investment opportunities and challenges in different areas of the country. This Summit will pay special attention to ICT especially Business Process Outsourcing, Education (Polytechnics Institutions) Finance , Value Addition to our abundant natural resources , (Agriculture-Agro-possessing), Health care and Tourism, Multimedia etc.
Side events include i) Exhibitions and Fashion Shows where Ugandans at home and in the Diaspora with display their products and services, ii) Entertainment & Cultural Activities where participants will discuss the effects of modernisation on culture, there will be training sessions on valued cultural norms including gender issues, iii) Youths and Children Activities which will include games and sports iv) Dinners, and Cocktails.
Participation forms are available at the UIA Front Office and website. The will be a registration fee of UGS 50.000 for the Residents only, payable at Hotel Africana
